Master’s Thesis Opportunity in Language, Memory, and Computational Psychiatry
Homan Lab
University of Zurich & Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich
We are looking for a motivated Master’s student to join an ongoing research project investigating language, memory, and human cognition using behavioural experiments, speech-language analysis, and computational methods. Through behavioural experiments and speech-language analysis, we aim to better understand human cognition, with applications to computational psychiatry and mental health research.
The student will contribute to participant recruitment, data collection, and data analysis while developing an independent Master’s thesis within the project. You will receive close supervision and training in speech-language analysis, computational methods, and research ethics, while gaining research experience with human participants. Opportunities for co-authorship on scientific publications may be available where appropriate. Students with an interest in neuroimaging may also have the opportunity to become involved in related fMRI studies.
This opportunity is particularly suitable for students in Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences, Cognitive Neuroscience, Neuroscience, Psychology, Computational Linguistics, or Computer Science. Students from other disciplines are also encouraged to apply if they have a strong interest in cognition, language, or computational psychiatry.
If you are interested, please send your CV, current degree programme, expected thesis period, and a brief statement of your research interests to Dr. Xiaoyan Wu (xiaoyan.wu@bli.uzh.ch).
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
