Details zum Jobangebot
Are you interested in using AI in healthcare, and in bringing innovative products into new markets and scaling them up?
We build an AI nutrition tracker that hospitals use to measure what patients actually eat. A camera above the meal tray records each tray before and after service, our computer vision models estimate what was consumed, and the ward receives reliable intake data instead of a rough estimate noted down by hand. The purpose is to catch clinical malnutrition early.
Between 20 and 30% of hospital patients are malnourished, yet only a few percent are ever formally diagnosed and coded, so most cases are never treated. Malnutrition lengthens hospital stays and slows recovery, at an estimated cost of CHF 526 million a year in Switzerland and around EUR 170 billion a year in Europe. Catching it early saves roughly CHF 2,800 per patient.
Detection is only the first half. Our second product line is medical nutrition, Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP), which is what treats a patient once malnutrition has been identified. Together the two cover the full path from detecting a problem on the ward to doing something about it.
The tracker is deployed in Swiss hospitals today, and the next step is international growth. Identifying where we go next, and building the commercial foundation to get there, is the core of this role.
You would work directly with our CEO and take ownership of the business side of the Nutrition Tracker. Your analysis and your recommendations will shape where we take this product next.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Market & Go-to-Market Strategy
- Identify and evaluate the markets where the tracker can deliver the most value, and decide where we should focus first.
- Size those opportunities properly, including reimbursement, hospital procurement, competitive landscape, and regulatory requirements.
- Own the go-to-market strategy: positioning, value proposition, and the right channel for each type of customer.
- Bring a clear recommendation to the founders on where we focus and what we drop.
Partnerships & International Expansion
- Build and run relationships with hospital groups, clinical software vendors, and distribution partners.
- Lead partner conversations together with our CEO, both the ones already underway and the ones you open yourself.
- Represent Alpinasana at conferences and in front of hospital decision makers.
Pricing & Hospital Contracts
- Design the pricing model, whether per bed, per ward, subscription, or hardware plus software, and test it against what hospitals will actually pay.
- Prepare and negotiate contracts with hospitals, with the founders signing.
- Understand how hospitals budget for a system like ours and build the commercial case accordingly.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Several years in business development, commercial strategy, or consulting. Exposure to healthcare, medtech, or selling into hospitals is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial spirit: you are comfortable with open questions and work persistently towards a clear answer, rather than waiting for a plan someone else has written.
- A hands-on way of working. The team is small, so you do your own research, your own outreach, and your own decks.
- Solid analytical work combined with the willingness to pick up the phone and talk to hospitals.
- Fluent English. German is a strong advantage for the Swiss market.
Nice to Have
- Experience taking a product into new international markets.
- Familiarity with hospital IT, clinical workflows, or hospital catering.
- A network in clinical nutrition or medtech distribution.
- Interest in applied healthcare technology beyond the commercial side of it.
WHY JOIN US?
- Ownership: You take the lead on the commercial side of the Nutrition Tracker and shape how we approach new markets, in close exchange with the founders.
- Short decisions: We are a small team, so a question about a price or a contract is a quick conversation rather than a committee.
- A team behind you: Our engineers, dietitians and scientific advisors from ETH and HSG carry the product side, which leaves you free to focus on the market.
- Work that matters: Better intake data means malnutrition is caught earlier, so patients recover faster and feel better day to day. Good nutrition is one of the simplest levers there is for quality of life.
- Room to grow: As we expand internationally, this role grows with it.
- Fair compensation: Competitive salary with a stock option plan.
