For the Materials Science Group we are looking for a

Beamline Scientist (Tenure Track)


Your tasks


  • Operate and develop the ADvanced DiffrAction for Material Science (ADDAMS) beamline at the SLS 2.0, with a focus on total scattering and/or profile analysis methods
  • Develop and sustain an independent scientific research program based on advanced X-ray scattering techniques, both experimentally and in data analysis
  • Conceive, plan and execute synchrotron experiments, also in collaboration with users, including the necessary technical developments
  • Support and expand the user program of the ADDAMS beamline in collaboration with both academic institutions and industrial partners
  • Publication and dissemination of scientific results 
  • Supervision of postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students


Your profile


  • PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or a related field 
  • Broad scientific research experience with diffraction methods and a strong related publication record 
  • Extensive experience in conducting experiments at large-scale research facilities 
  • Dynamic personality with broad scientific curiosity and the ability to drive research and infrastructure projects forward 
  • Software development skills are an advantage
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and willingness to learn German over time
